Report by independent research firm cites Nastel as one of the best tools so far to build a closed-loop automation solution for application management

MELVILLE, NY (DATE) – Nastel Technologies, a premier global provider of business transaction performance solutions for mission-critical applications spanning the distributed, mainframe and cloud tiers, announced today that it has been cited as a vendor providing one of the best tools so far to build a closed-loop automation solution for application management by Forrester Research, Inc. The December 2010 report which cited this is titled “Evaluating Innovative I&O Solutions: Converged Application Performance Management – Nastel Uses Complex Event Processing To Manage Application Performance.”

The report highlights innovative application performance management (APM) solutions that can help I&O teams increase productivity. More specifically, it spotlights how complex event processing (CEP) adapted to APM takes I&O a step forward in controlling and automating the management of application performance.

The report states, “We highlight Nastel as a particularly innovative implementation of CEP in an APM solution. Nastel is one of the best tools so far to build a closed-loop automation solution for application management.” It continues, “There is no doubting its viability or its ability to serve any size

[Infrastructure and Operations] I&O shop.” The report also states that Nastel AutoPilot stands out by providing the ability to integrate with installed monitoring solutions and in providing a CEP engine for root-cause analysis.

“Nastel Technologies has used a Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine since 2001 as the core of its solution in order to help customers save money by reducing mean time to repair (MTTR) and increasing mean time between failures (MTBF),” said Charley Rich, vice president of product management and marketing for Nastel. “We knew that our customers, while having many existing monitoring solutions, were struggling to grow their business with their top talent fully dedicated to maintaining this infrastructure. In order for AutoPilot to be effective, we had to be able to work seamlessly with the monitoring tools our customers already had. By taking this approach, AutoPilot is able uncover and even prevent problems before users are impacted, and thus, free up technical resources to help grow the business and not just run it.”

AutoPilot provides IT professionals, enterprise architects and application owners a 360° situational awareness™ of the entire IT environment, including the availability and performance of business applications, middleware and transactions from the datacenter to the cloud

The solution enables management teams to identify and fix problems—even predict and prevent them—before they compromise service level agreements (SLA) or other compliance standards.
