Modern application architectures make use of a number of different cloud architectures, with many platform, infrastructure and management layer choices being described as SaaS (Software as a service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), Iaas (Infrastructre as a Service), DaaS (Data as a Service), with various levels of approaches (Single-Instance, Multi-Instance, Multi-Tennant and Flex-Tennacy). There are numerous vendors offering different levels of cloud including some of the most commonly considered; Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud Computing.
Virtual machines (VM’s) provide all the functionality delivered by physical machines and their operating systems, and multiple VM’s are managed by an underlying hypervisor allowing many VM’s to run in a large physical environment.
There are layer upon layer of management and operating system software that allows for flexible deployment of virtual machines.
One of the most often requested Platform as a Service (PaaS) products is Docker. Docker allows software to be delivered as packages called containers, which contain all of the elements of software, libraries and configuration information required to implement a virtual instance of a specific application. Using Docker is considered a best practice by many current enterprise environments, as it allows the deployment of multiple instances of an application to me managed effectively.
Another often-considered Platform as a Service component is Kubernetes. Kubernetes is a open-source container design, management and deliver solution (often referred to as Orchestration). Kubernetes is often used in conjunction with Docker to allow for the deployment of as need fully configured virtual environments.
Nastel Technologies products are designed to be implemented both on-premise and in all cloud infrastructures. We deploy using Docker when this is needed, and offer support for Kubernetes environments.

IBM Cloud is a cloud computing platform and associated services.
Docker is a set of coupled software-as-a-service (saas) and platform-as-a-service (paas) products that use operating-system-level virtualization to develop and deliver software in packages called containers.
Kubernetes is an open-source container-orchestration system for automating application deployment, scaling, and management.
