Report by Independent Research Firm Cites Nastel For Taking Analysis One Step Further

MELVILLE, NY Sep 27, 2010 – Nastel Technologies, a premier global provider of business transaction performance™ (BTP™) solutions for mission-critical applications spanning both the distributed and mainframe tiers, announced today that it has been positioned as a vendor providing the next step in the evolution of Application Performance Management (APM) and Business Transaction Monitoring (BTM) by Forrester Research, Inc. in its independent September 2010 report titled “Competitive Analysis: Application Performance Management and Business Transaction Monitoring.” The report is a Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats (SWOT) analysis of APM and BTM software vendors’ current capabilities. It also forecasts the future of this market. Nastel’s inclusion in the “Competitive Analysis: Application Performance Management and Business Transaction Monitoring” report is for its AutoPilot® product family.

The report states, “As business services become more and more complex, the level of abstraction needed to control their performance requires the processing of an increasing number of seemingly unrelated events and a better evaluation of the business impact of performance lapses.” It continues, “All products reviewed are using some form of statistical-based analysis to distinguish normal from abnormal behavior of applications and transactions. Nastel seems to have taken the analysis one step further by adding a level of inference to its solution.”

“Nastel Technologies has used a grid-based Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine since 2001 as the core of its solution. We realized the need a long time ago to uncover problems before users are impacted and to resolve them before the pain is felt; this is how our users save money. As a result, we built AutoPilot on CEP and included automation for discovery, situational analysis, alerting and problem remediation,” said Charley Rich, vice president of marketing and product management for Nastel.

AutoPilot provides IT professionals, enterprise architects and application owners a 360° situational awareness™ of the entire IT environment, including both transactional and operational data in a unified business context. The solution enables management teams to identify and fix problems—even predict and prevent them—before they compromise SLA or other compliance standards.
